Finding my own voice…

om namah shivayaMusic has always played an important role in my life. I sang in a choir, played instruments for years, had friends who were producing their own music, etc. But still somehow it fell off my radar and I resorted to simply listening.

I rediscovered music with my son. I was singing for him when I put him to bed. Anything, kids songs, yoga Om’s, the Anusara invocation, pop songs. The fan was on, my husband couldn’t hear me and my son was too small to complain. Not that I think he would mind. And I just laid into it…

Enter one of my favourite yoga teachers in Vancouver. I had the pleasure of watching her grow from a first time teacher into an amazing instructor and inspiring mum. I always admired how she shared her life lessons in each class, without much sentiment, without trying to appear perfect… just perfectly human. She would also joke about the dreaded ‚C-Word‘ (chanting…), and we would chant 108 Om’s, for example. And I loved it.

My goal is to connect some of my favourite things these days: more yoga, more music, more joy. Connecting my inner and outer voice, being healthy, happy and whole… all through next year…
