Lost in translation…

Being German begs the question why I started writing this blog in English. I just recently moved  back to Germany after 12 years away in Vancouver, Canada. That is also where I started practicing yoga about 10 years ago. So „my yoga“ is – at least for now – „English“. Everything yoga-related in my head is in English. In the meantime I have been to a few classes here, however, something seems to me lost in translation.

Yoga has such an omni-presence in Vancouver. Here it is tucked away, somewhere between „Rückenschule“ (exercises to improve your posture and help with back pain) and Nordic Walking. It is more important whether the public health insurance will reimburse for the costs of attending yoga classes. Don’t get me wrong, it is great to have financial benefits for people to get them to exercise. However, as my yoga course takes two weeks off for fall vacation, I miss Vancouver’s yogis and yoginis.
